4 Signs it's Time to Replace your Boiler

March 04, 2017

Is it time to replace your new boiler? Roy Inch & Sons Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning is here with a couple indicators to look for when determining whether it’s time to buy a new boiler.

Age

If your condensing boiler has routine maintenance, you can expect it to last about 15 years or longer. Cast iron boilers can last decades, even up to 50 years with proper maintenance. If your condensing boiler is close to 15 years or your cast iron boiler is almost 50 years, it may be time to discuss an upgrade.

Bills

If your utility bills are going up or you’re having to service your boiler more frequently, it could be because it’s time to buy a new, more efficient boiler.

Discoloration

If you see yellow flames on the gas burners and black soot on oil burners it could be an indicator that the fuel is not burning properly and could be generating carbon monoxide. If you observe these issues or have any concerns surrounding carbon monoxide in your home, you should call Roy Inch & Sons Service Experts Heating & Air Conditioning or your gas company immediately.

Comfort

If some of the rooms in your home are too cool or too warm and you can’t seem to control them appropriately or get them comfortable, it could be that your boiler is not effective anymore and you might need to look into upgrade options.
