The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give over 300 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano, TX.
“Last September, I had the opportunity to get a group together to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was such an amazing experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a crucial part of this community.”
Cheryl Jackson began Minnie’s Food Pantry as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent her younger years wondering if and where she would get her next meal. Not only does Minnie’s provide free healthy meals to families in need, they also hold classes to teach families how to utilize the food they are given to cook healthy, long-lasting meals. They also give resume support along with money-management and job classes to help families get back on their feet.
Since each family receives around 50 pounds of food to last them a month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so ecstatic that we had this food drive for Minnie’s Food Pantry, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
